Two League Games For Alvechurch Before They Travel To Edgar Street

Alvechurch have two chances to narrow the gap between themselves and Hereford FC before the two teams meet at Edgar Street a week on Saturday.

With Hereford in FA Vase action this Saturday and not having a midweek game next Tuesday, their next 'League' game is the home game against Alvechurch.

Alvechurch have two home games. On Saturday they take on Stourport Swifts and next Tuesday they play Rocester. The form book would suggest they should take six points from these games.

However they lost their FA Vase Tie at Cleethorpes last Saturday.

“It will me some time to get over Saturday,” said manager Ian Long as reported by the Redditch Standard.

 “I was absolutely gutted.

“After going ahead we looked comfortable but after we conceded we never looked like getting back into it.

“But now we need to bounce back. We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We’ve got some big games coming up and we need to focus. We need to be mentally strong.”

Alvechurch remain in two cup competitions as well as the League and Long may need to add to his squad.

“We are playing every Tuesday and every Saturday from now until the end of the season and we are going to need a big squad,” he said.

“I’ve got a couple of targets in mind but we will have to wait to see whether we can get the players we need.”
