About 35 Hereford FC supporters have been at Edgar Street late this afternoon to help cover the pitch.
Frost is expected tonight and the hope is that the covers will give enough protection to the pitch so that it can be used tomorrow afternoon for the FA Vase tie against Leicester Nirvana.
"The pitch is in really good nick," commercial manager Chris Ammonds told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"It's patchy but pitches tend to be patchy in the winter.
"It's remarkable that Ben and the team from Highground have got it into this condition and have managed to keep on top of it."
