From Tividale To Alvechurch For A Bigger Budget?

Ian Long the Alvechurch manager was appointed last May following the departure of Lee Knight.

Previously Long had been manager of Tividale who had played at a higher level. There he was 'affectionately known as Pee Wee' by his players according to the Express and Star.

Long reportedly left Tividale because of budget cuts

"First things first, the club comes first, and they approached us explaining that the club were in financial trouble," said Long last May.

“We learned that the playing budget would be cut in half. That is simply not a competitive budget at this level.

"We managed to finish eighth in our first season in the Evo-Stik Division One South – with the smallest budget."

Then just a day or two after leaving Tividale, Long was appointed Alvechurch manager.

"We seized the opportunity with both hands,"said Alvechurch at the time.

Several of the current Alvechurch squad came from Tividale with Long.

The implication appears to be that Alvechurch could have one of the highest budgets in the Midland Premier League.

Where the money is coming from is unclear given average gates so far this season of just 99,
