Tickets For Hartley Wintney Next Saturday

Hereford FC have a very limited number of tickets available for next Saturday's FA Vase tie at Hartley Wintney.

They failed to sell all of their 700 allocation for last Saturday's postponed game as doubt grew about the original game going ahead.

These tickets can be purchased at: http://www.herefordfc.co.uk/tickets/

More information about tickets and coach travel is expected tomorrow.

Meanwhile Hartley Wintney has released a statement this evening about tickets sold through their club.

With the postponement comes the headache of ticket holders now not being able to attend on 6th Feb. I need to get the message on our website and social media that we will accept tickets back for refund only if in re-saleable condition. Refunds are available from HWFC from 6pm onwards Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. NO REFUNDS AFTER WEDNESDAY 3RD FEB.

So, refunds can be had if you return the tickets (in a condition that allows us to re-sell them) to the HWFC clubhouse on either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evening after 6pm (as that's when the clubhouse opens).

The day the goalkeeper scored

The 12th August 1995 was Graham Turner's first match in charge of the Bulls. Hereford ran out 4-1 winners that afternoon against Barnet . The 3rd goal was scored by goalkeeper Chris Mackenzie and I have unearthed some footage of the goal here.

Westfields Gate Boost After Hereford's Game Called Off

Westfields had one of their highest gates of the season this afternoon for the visit of Stourport Swifts.

With Hereford's game called off, some of their supporters made the short trip to the All-Pay Stadium to watch the Midland Premier League game.

Westfields' last home game, against Walsall Wood, two weeks ago attracted a gate of 103. This afternoon the attendance was 212.

The game ended 1-0 to Stourport. They scored in the sixth minute through Joe Phillips.

Later the visitors had a man sent off but Westfields couldn't take advantage although they did have the ball in the net once but it was ruled offside.

Below a few pictures from the game.

It's not yet known when Hartley will try again to stage the tie.

FA Rules say that it has to be played on or by next Saturday.

Worcester Looking For New Sites For Ground

Worcester City held their first AGM for five years on Thursday to find out the club had just under £650,000 left in their pot from the sale of St Georges Lane after handing £600,000 to developer St Modwen to end their deal on building a new ground on the original Nunnery Way site.

Shareholders were told the club needed to cover a projected loss of £60,000 this season as they continue to groundshare at Kidderminster. However that groundshare is now in doubt with the cash-strapped Harriers looking to more than double the current £21,000 a season rent. A move to Bromsgrove is understood to be under discussion after being ruled out earlier in the month, however their stadium would need additional works to make it acceptable for National North level.

The biggest news to come out of the AGM was that the long worked on Perdiswell site had been ruled out by Worcestershire Council as the location for their proposed new ground, meaning a potential return to the city could still be years away.

The Council have told club chiefs that the Leisure Centre site, now the subject of partial redevelopment work beginning recently with a £10.5million swimming pool, is not suitable for a 4,419 capacity stadium. The Council is to offer alternative sites for the ground with the club having spent more than three years working on plans for the area.

The National North side left St Georges Lane in 2013 having signed contracts to sell the site in 2008.

Pitch Inspection At Alvechurch

There is to be a pitch inspection at Alvechurch at 10.30am tomorrow morning to see if their game against Brocton can go ahead.

'In truth I think it's doubtful. It hasn't really recovered from Tuesday night and we've had a few hours heavy rain,' said a tweet from Alvechurch.

If it is postponed then their next game could be on Tuesday evening at Edgar Street in the Midland League Cup assuming Hereford are not in FA Vase action.

Highgate's match with Long Eaton is also subject to an inspection.

Small Club With Big Heart

Hartley Wintney is a small village club with a big heart according to joint manager Dan Brownlie in an interview with BBC Surrey in advance of tomorrow's FA Vase tie.

"We've got a great club which is full of good people which will put on a real good day regardless of the event, whether it's Hereford or a lesser team," said Brownlie

"Home advantage is always a comfort for the players, the only thing they have to concentrate on is sticking the ball in the net and stopping it going in the other end.

"You would think they have the pick of the players.

"For example we went to play Merthyr in the FA Cup, they are a team above us, we beat them quite well.

"Their captain had just left to go to Hereford the week before so they are signing some players from some higher clubs so we expect them to have an amazing amount of quality within their ranks.

"I think we will go into the game as underdogs but we're happy with that title. But we've beaten teams documented as being better than us."

9AM Pitch Inspection At Hartley Wintney

There will be a pitch inspection at Hartley Wintney at 9am tomorrow morning.

The timing should be early enough so that Hereford supporters will not have started their journey to the game if it is called off.

Updated 3.45: BN has been told some supporters are leaving on trains before 8am.

Currently the pitch is playable but rain is forecast overnight.

Meanwhile tickets for the game can still be purchased until 4pm either at Edgar Street or online.

The View From Hartley Wintney

This From The FA:

David meets Goliath in The FA Vase on Saturday when village side Hartley Wintney play host to Hereford.

But the home side’s joint managers Dan Brownlie and Anthony Merrick are insistent this tie means more to them than a pay day.

Hailing from a Hampshire village with a population of less than 5,000, Hartley are set to meet Hereford FC – born in 2014 following Hereford United’s insolvency – who attracted a crowd of 4,026 to Saturday’s Midland League meeting with Alvechurch.

The FA Vase
Fifth Round
3pm, Saturday 30 January
Memorial Playing Fields
Winning club will receive £2,500
by Joshua Richards

A sell-out crowd is set to descend on the Memorial Playing Fields for Saturday’s fifth round tie where the winners will bank a £2,500 cheque and move to just two steps away from Wembley.
But the Row have no intention of simply enjoying their big day – they are in it to win it.
“There are two ways to look at this,” says Brownlie, who originally joined Hartley as a player five years ago before assuming his role in the dugout alongside Merrick at the beginning of the season.
“For the club this is a fantastic occasion and they deserve it, because there are people here who work so hard behind the scenes. Not an army of people, you can probably list them on one hand, but they do such a terrific job.
“But for the team this is just another game. We go into it wanting to win and with no fear.
“Any money accrued isn’t going into our pockets, it’s going into ground improvements. We want to win a football match, not to make lots of money.”
The fifth round is previously unchartered territory for Hartley, who go into the tie having lost just four of 37 games in all competitions this term and sit pretty at the top of the Combined Counties Premier Division table.
That record pales into insignificance against Hereford’s though. The Bulls’ draw with Alvechurch ended a run of 27 consecutive victories.
But Merrick, who moved from Cove Rangers last summer, believes it’s his team who should be feared.
“Myself and Dan have only worked together since the start of the season, but we’re perfectly in sync and I think the results show that,” he said.
“We’re flying in the league, we’ve equalled our best ever run in The FA Cup and gone the furthest we ever have in The FA Vase.
“And if you have got any ambition to go and make your mark in the competition then you have to beat a big team or two along the way.
“The club was ready for a push. Teams look at our players but no-one has left and no-one will because they are well looked after. We’re getting it right on and off the pitch.”

Hartley Wintney Aim To Protect Pitch For Vase Tie

Hartley Wintney FC are hoping to cover their pitch later today because of 'tonight's scheduled downpour'.

The club is due to stage a FA Vase Tie against Hereford FC tomorrow afternoon.

Earlier this morning they appealed for extra covers for their pitch.

The current forecast suggests rain for several hours starting late this evening but drying out tomorrow morning.

Meanwhile Hereford Awaydays have said that they are fully booked for tomorrow's game.

Tomorrow's Midland Premier League Fixtures

Whilst Hereford FC are on FA Vase duty, the other clubs in the Midland Premier League promotion race could make up some ground on the leaders tomorrow.

Second placed Alvechurch have a home game against Brocton who are currently 16th. Church will be hoping to get back to winning ways after taking just two points from their last two games.

Third placed Heanor should overcome Lye Town (12th).

In what is probably the match of the day Sporting Khalsa (4th but with five games in hand over Hereford) travel to Old Wulfrunians (6th). A draw looks likely.

Shepshed Dynamo (5th) are away at Coleshill (11th) and will do well to take all three points.
