News Round-Up

Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite has distanced himself from rumours he is set to buy into Torquay after putting the Valiants up for sale. Smurthwaite told the press he has already been told by the Football League he cannot own both clubs, but admits he plans to retire to Devon.

Cheltenham have told seven players their contracts will not be renewed at the end of the season. Six of the seven are currently out on loan, and have been told they will remain with the Robins until their contracts expire or they find new clubs. Ex-Bull Keith Lowe has been released by York City by mutual consent. The 30 year old was Player of the Year last term but hasn't started any of the club's last five matches after new boss Jackie McNamara arrived.
