Cargill At Hereford FC

Earlier this week Cargill kindly 'loaned' Hereford FC some staff to help in tidying up Edgar Street.

Ian Walford from Cargill told BN how they became involved.

The “Finance & Information” team at Cargill undertake a Community Day every year – we’ve done some painting at Weobley Junior School, cleaned up Yazor Brook and done some gardening at Widemarsh Children’s Centre.

This year’s discussions around what we wanted to do coincided with Ken’s (Kinnersley) emails asking for volunteers at Edgar Street – we have a number of Hereford fans here and the management team are well aware of the importance of a football club to the local community, so it was met with a pretty positive response when I suggested we helped out.

I got in touch with Ken and 23 of us spent part / all of the day at Edgar Street on Monday, liaising with Ken. The vast majority of the work was cleaning the main stand ready for the FC United game – wading through gull/pigeon mess, sweeping, cleaning seats, removing labels from those seats.

But we did also assist those volunteers painting the barriers in the Meadow End and cleared the area outside the toilets by the Waitrose traffic lights.
