Some Of The Drains Remain Visible |
Last weekend's rainfall at Edgar Street has helped the fresh seeds tiller so much that the overall appearance of the pitch is much better than it was just a week ago.
However there are still problems with some of the drains underneath the ground showing on the surface.
Ben Bowen from Highround was working on the pitch this morning.
"After all the rain we had Friday night I checked the two culverts and they are not even working.
"There was a drain cover on the side of the pitch. I dug that out on Saturday afternoon to see if it was running but it wasn't.
"It's a good thing because the moisture is being held into the ground a little bit.

"I'll get it right for the 11th and Beads troops.
"It's coming very slowly. Rome wasn't built in a day.
"We'll get a decent surface.
"We've had problems with the sprinkler system.
"The main problem is that the pitch is very very dry. It's a very sandy pitch.
"I've put slow release fertiliser on the pitch and that's just starting to work
"The only issue we've got is to get these drains to work so we don't see them.
"I'm happy with the pitch and progress as it is at the moment. We'll be alright."
