Volunteer Working Group Update

From Ken Kinnersley Operations Director:

Hereford FC Volunteers Working Group

Sat 9 and Sun 10 May 2015

Following on from the absolutely incredible work that was achieved by our volunteers on Sun 26 Apr when we managed far more than expected, we now seek your help again. We thank all involved in the first party for the incredible team spirit you showed - you were brilliant! We confess we didn't anticipate you would make the “Mail on Sunday” though! You must have been even better than we thought! You will be pleased to know we have “litter picked” during the week to maintain your standards! No time to rest though as we now need to make a start inside the stadium.

Next weekend we are going to try to achieve the same level of progress. This means we need as much volunteer support as we are able to muster because we have a lot of work to do.

The intention is to start to clear all the junk, rubbish and broken items that are in just about every cupboard and corner in every office, room and corridor under the Merton Stand. We'll start at the Meadow End and work towards the Blackfriars. There will be some heavy lifting involved for those on a fitness regime but in the main the tasks will be well within the capabilities of most people.

We would also like to have sufficient volunteers on site to follow the clearance gang by doing a “first level” clean in each cleared space by sweeping and clutter / litter collection, bagging and dumping. So again, the more volunteers we can have working the easier and quicker it will be for all.

Attached is a list of items we would ask you to bring you with – not all will need all the items but again please “be prepared” and bring what you are able to lay a hand on.

Another reason we would like as many as possible to attend is, and please keep this under your hat, that we are expecting Dan Pallett and a film crew from BBC TV Midlands Today - and possibly a crew from BBC H&W - to be at the stadium at some point over the weekend to interview some of our volunteers and film you in action! Just so the gentlemen volunteers are aware, new hair-dos, manicures, pedicures and excessive make-up are not required!

So if you are able to fulfil your offer to volunteer with Hereford FC then please “Reply” to this email. There are only three possible answers to pick from. If you are intending to join us on Saturday 9th would you please just “Reply” to this email and in the Subject Heading enter only – “YES – Day 1”, or, in you are only coming on Sunday 10th it is “YES – 2,” or, for Saturday and Sunday enter “Yes Both days” - please do not enter any more information in the email text part as we will not be opening the emails.

Maintenance Team

We have now formed a maintenance team from our volunteer force to start the internal repairs to doors and door-frames, holes in walls, and many other tasks around the stadium.

We thank Gerry and Jon - both “professional” carpenters as well as experienced maintenance men – David and Ted for their enthusiastic approach to a fair amount of work and specifically David for promptly producing a prioritised work schedule.

Anyone interested in joining this team please email volunteers@herefordfc.co.uk.

Volunteer Domestic Team

We are also looking to form a team of “committed” volunteers to join Sharon, Stephen and Catherine (who have already signed-up) to make up a team to keep our stadium clean for the long term. We will need 12 or more for the coming season(s) and anyone can join, male or female and any age. We are particularly keen to share the work of keeping our stadium spick and span among as many fans as possible to lighten the work load for everyone.

It will involve cleaning offices and public areas, players’ dressing rooms, corridors, social rooms and anything else you decide. Make no mistake this will be a very important team and whilst it may not appear to be the most glamorous role, it certainly will be a much valued contribution to what Hereford FC is seeking to achieve.

We want the team members to decide for themselves how they will work be that on a rota system or all together and your personal speciality and preferences for undertaking the type of work we need to do. This way we hope to be as flexible as possible.  Basically, something for everyone and in the fullness of time we will even be providing the cleaning materials … not you! If you’re interested in joining the team, then please email volunteers@herefordfc.co.uk.

Part Time Post

There is also vacancy to be filled shortly, paid at around the minimum wage, that involves clerical and admin type duties and requires a degree of computer literacy with email, spreadsheets and word.

The post is based around a fix term contract between August 15 to end April/May 16, with the possibility of renewing for the following season.

A DBS check will be necessary for any applicant. Hours have some flexibility to be discussed after application.

If anyone is, or knows anyone who may be interested in such a position which is related to football but not directly with Hereford FC, please get in touch by email to volunteers@herefordfc.co.uk enclosing full personal details and your cv.

UPDATE Tuesday: Volunteers for May9th/10th please sign in at 9.30am
