Club historian Ron Parrott looks forward to a new chapter:
“Since the demise of Hereford United (1939) Ltd., I have been asked many times whether that signified the end of 90 years of glorious history at Edgar Street or whether it merely represented the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
After consultation with my fellow statisticians, Richard Prime and John Williamson, we have concurred that although we will keep our own records of Southern League matches played and appearances made, since all league records have been expunged by the Southern League, all such appearances will not appear in records of HUFC appearances.
The only exceptions to this will be the completed ties in the FA Cup at Ellistown & Ibstock , the FA Trophy games at AFC Totton, at home to Mangotsfield United & to Sutton United and in the RED Insurance Cup at home to Cinderford Town.
Regarding the future, our view is that providing we are still playing at Edgar Street in our famous white shirts (with bulls head badge of course) and black shorts, then in our opinion, we are still Hereford United and a new chapter in our history will open up.
History shows that the directors of the Club have always had total control over Club affairs and although on a couple of occasions a place on the Board was given to supporters, they had no influence over decision making in any way and were merely seen by fans as “puppets” of the Board.
What we have on offer now, is a new Club with potentially a 50% stake for HUST (i.e. the fans) with full voting rights on the Board, in conjunction with the group of businessmen headed by Jon Hale. All I can say to supporters is “Have no doubts, these people are all genuine Hereford United supporters and good, honest people. They are known to me personally and I trust them implicitly. They have no interest in making money out of the ground development and to allay any doubts that fans may have, the very fact that they will receive no remuneration of any sort for their efforts, speaks for itself. Personally, I can’t wait for the next chapter in the Club’s history to begin and I would urge all members of HUST to vote in favour of the offer later this week”.
Bring it on!
