Big Protest At Hitchin

There was a big protest in support of Hitchin Town before the start of their match against Poole this afternoon.

The Mercury reported that passionate demonstrators took to the streets to protest plans to build a supermarket on Hitchin Town FC's ground.

It was a highly-charged afternoon, with today's march evoking real passion, pride and belief.

As many as 2,000 gathered in Butts Close ahead of the walk, which was organised by campaigners to oppose plans to redevelop Top Field and relocate the club.

Hitchin won the game 1-0.
