News Round-Up


The nomadic Moses Ashikodi has racked up another club, joining Eastbourne Borough on non-contract terms. Now 27, Ashikodi has had 12 clubs since leaving Edgar Street. Work on Bristol Rovers' new stadium is expected to finally start soon after planners allowed permission for the planned new superstore on their current site to have longer access times for deliveries against local residents wishes.

Grimsby have outlined a five year plan to get planning permission on a £200million development to include retail and housing alongside a new stadium. The stadium would be all-seater with a capacity of 14,000 - and have parking for 2,000 cars. Coventry's Ricoh Arena has been sold 100% to rugby side Wasps after the Alan Higgs Charity agreed to sell their half. Wasps have paid a total of £5.54million and taken on the remainder of the £15.4million Council loan to the stadium management company.

Wimbledon have submitted plans for a new stadium on Plough Lane near to the site they vacated in 1998. The plans are on a site currently occupied by a greyhound track, with a 11,000 capacity stadium with scope to increase to 20,000 planned as well as 600 homes and retail units.
