£3250 For Trophy Win

Players Led By Javiar Roberts Thank Fans For Their Support
This afternoon's 2-0 win over Mangotsfield by Hereford United should mean £3250 will be on its way to Edgar Street.

The game itself didn't have as much of the free-flowing football that Jon Taylor's squad have provided recently but the result was never in doubt.

Taylor choose an unchanged side for the game but there was no Dan Sullivan on the bench as he is understood to be cup-tied. His place was taken by Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson.

Mangotsfield included former Hereford United youngster Zac Evans in their squad.

Hereford started brightly and might taken an early lead when Bilal Yafai was brought down. However Obi Onyeike's free kick went straight to the keeper.

Several minutes later Mangotsfield were unlucky not to score when a shot from Geraint Bater hit the post.

On 29 minutes Hereford took the lead through Serge Mor Diop who converted a pass from Steve Vetier.

Another Goal For Striker Serge Mor Diop
Shortly afterwards another foul on Bilal gave Josh Hawker the chance of converting a free kick which went inches over the bar.

Keeper Beaten But Josh Hawker's Free Kick Was Inches Too High
Just before half-time Mangotsfield did get the ball into the goal but it ruled out for offside.

Both sides came out strongly in the second period and Mangotsfield had a couple of chances to draw level.

But on 60 minutes Vetier made it 2-0 after a goal mouth scramble involving Mor Diop and Yafai.

From then on both sides had chances but the keepers were able to deal with everything thrown at them.

Hereford will find out who they play in the next round on Monday.

Hereford: Williams, Roberts, Cutajar, Hawker, Gascoigne, Gordon, Onyeike, Bobes-Gilroy, Mor-Diop, Yafai, Vetier.

Subs: Fortnam-Tomlinson 85, O’Neill 80, Ciani 65, Kone, Mahony.

Attendance: 339 including, reportedly, a scout from Aston Villa and 36 in the away area.

Update: The Villa scout was said to be looking at goalkeeper Luke Williams. A scout from Bristol City was also said to have watched the game.
