Former Hereford United goalkeeping coach, Bernard Day, has died following a short illness.

Day was a highly experienced coach who had been a professional goalkeeper.

He had worked for several clubs such as Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion before joining Graham Turner at Hereford United in August 2002.

He left Edgar Street in January 2007 and went on to become Senior Goalkeeper Coach at the Worcester Goalkeeper Academy.

Day was a larger than life figure who always had a smile on his face.

Update: Wayne Brown has tweeted: 'Shocked to hear Hereford United hero & my gk coach has passed away. What a lovely lovely guy. RIP Bernard Day.'
