Veiter Goal Seals First Away Win

A second half strike from sub Steve Veiter gave Hereford United their first away win of the season at Paulton Rovers.

An early Bilal Yafai deflected goal gave the visitors the lead before former Bristol Rovers man Josh Klein-Davies equalised. The home side also hit the woodwork before the winner and had a late chance cleared off the line.

Three new players debuted for the club. Recent signings Louis Cutajar and Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson had both received international clearance while Josh Hawker, previously reported as a trialist, started in midfield.

The win moves Jon Taylor's men up to 17th in the table, two points clear of the bottom four but some 16 points behind leaders Poole Town. The unbeaten side are threatening to run away with the division already with a five point lead after nine games, conceding only three times.

All the bottom four suffered heavy defeats. Histon went down 4-0 at St Neots, Arlesey lost 5-1 at Dunstable, Banbury lost 4-0 at Hungerford, and Frome lost 4-0 at Bideford.
