"The Fraud Squad Should've Been Involved" Claims Nathan

Prior to tonight's 2-2 draw against Slough, Joel Nathan spoke to a group of fans outside the ground about the current crisis at Edgar Street.

“I was asked to come up here from a football perspective to try and make sure there’s football played this year.”

Interrupted by one fan who told him to stop smirking, Joel replied:

“I wish your club every success. I wish you were back in the Conference and that would be justice. I haven’t taken a penny out of your club and it’s cost me £1400 in the last three weeks coming up here.”

A protesting fan than commentated that most people don’t want the club liquidated, but realistically it’s the only way forward.

“But then where do you end up? Step god-knows-what and you’ve got to build again.

“If it gets liquidated you have to start again, but then it’s whether or not you’re playing here (Edgar Street) or not. If you have to start again and it’s not here and you build your own club, it’s not as easy as what everybody thinks.”

Fans then went on to question “adviser” Joel Nathan about the bond the Conference required.

“If I’d have come here from day one I wouldn’t have paid the £350k, not a chance.

“At the end of the day the club was not sustainable as a business, it was riddled. There’s things here that the fraud squad should’ve been involved with.”
