Poor Management To Blame Says Trust Chairman

Chris Williams, chairman of the Supporters Trust, has blamed poor management by the Hereford United board for the decision by the Conference to throw the Bulls out of the Conference.

"I'm gutted and devasted," Williams told BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"In terms of blame you have to look at the previous regime, the previous chairman (Keyte) and his advisors. There's an arrogance about them.

"They didn't take advice, they wouldn't take support.

"As a Trust we tried to help them as much as we could.

"They didn't learn by their mistakes, they've made costly decisions in terms of management appointments.

"They had players they took on loan and didn't use, they cost a fortune.

"Really it's poor management that has resulted in this.

"The previous regime blamed the supporters for not going to the matches, the players for not performing properly.

"It seems that everybody else was to blame except the people who had the responsibilty to take the decisions. They just didn't do it.

"From a Trust point of view my prospective is different.

"We've got a set of aims and objectives which are geared around to provide professional football in Herefordshire at Edgar Street.

"Our aim is to galvanise support together so we can have a professional football club in Hereford.

"It's a club with a fantastic history, it's got a heritage and it's been ruined in three years through what I feel is sheer incompetence."

Williams was asked about all the fundraising which has gone on to try and help the club.

"I feel they took advantage of all goodwill and support.

"Six weeks ago HUST offered to buy the club on the same deal as has been done with the present owner.

"But again David Keyte made a poor decision and went with somebody who he thought could invest more money.

"We would have settled the debts, we had the facilities to do that.

"It would have been a mountain for us to climb but because we would have galvanised the support and the goodwill to do it we would have done it.

"I am very angry."
