Darts Chairman Calls For HMRC Debt Penalties

Dartford chairman Dave Skinner has called on clubs that get behind in payments to HMRC to face points deductions and relegation.

Speaking to the local press about the Darts' financial stability following relegation, Skinner said: "We are relatively stable. Results haven’t gone for us this year but there are more things than results on the field, like the stability of the club.

"Lots of clubs are having problems paying their tax bill and that’s my real bugbear. Anybody who falls behind with their tax by more than one or two months should be docked points or relegated.

"We’re on a steady financial basis, so the club will go on. We will come back again. We’ll still be here in five or 10 years’ time, whereas some clubs may not be."

Skinner says the club intends to rebuild for a promotion challenge next season, with the ultimate aim of turning to a full time playing squad with commercial development.
