Sam Smith made a surprise appearance for the U's in the play-off first leg match with Halifax tonight.
The forward started the 1-0 loss to the Shaymen at The Shay, with top scorer Lee Gregory netting a late penalty for the hosts. Smith, who started only 11 games for the U's in his first season, last played for them just over a year ago.
