Community Trust Announce New Youth Team Plans

Hereford United Community Trust will be providing an exciting player pathway for young footballers in Herefordshire

Hereford United Community Trust will be providing an exciting player pathway for young footballers in Herefordshire following in continuing the legacy of the clubs youth system for the foreseeable future.

HUCT already deliver the successful Football Development Centre for U8 – U11 Age groups.

And now the clubs youth system from U12 to U19 will come under the guidance of the Community Trust who will continue to provide a route for young footballers to follow in the footsteps of graduates Jarrod Bowen and Billy Murphy into Hereford United’s First team.

Bowen is the first player who has represented The Trust from Soccer Schools through to the Football Development Centre and Youth Academy and finally into the clubs first team.

The Trust has applied to and been accepted to re-join the NERF Junior Premier League for U12, U13 and U14 age groups whilst the U15 and U16 age groups will participate in a fixture programme TBC.

A new ‘Performance Scholarship’ will be the reward for U16 graduate players and regional recruits that will form the new Hereford United Youth team who will compete with other clubs in a National Division.

The Performance Scholarship will replace the current Football League Scholarship programme and places will be limited to a maximum of ten each season.

The Performance Scholarship is a full time two year programme and will provide an intense training and match programme which will include entry into the FA Youth Cup and HFA Giant killers Cup, alongside a Btec Education Qualification in Sports Excellence worth up to 3 A levels.

The Performance Scholarship will maintain a full time youth side for the football club, and also with the club no longer being able to compete in the Football League Youth Alliance, the new Hereford United Youth Team will play in a midweek league therefore the programme will hope to build partnerships with local senior teams to give these players experience of adults football.

The Community Trust will be seeking sponsors for the Youth Player Pathway for the upcoming season, if you feel you could assist please contact Trust Manager Jamie Edwards on communitytrust@herefordunited.co.uk

More information regarding the players and staff involved will be released over the coming months.
