Hereford United have said that £3,000 has been received in donations so far.
£78,000 is needed before next Monday week's winding up order to pay off the HMRC.
The appeal for funds started after Monday's supporters meeting.
Supporters can donate directly to the club or to HUST.
Donations to the club will go towards the outstanding HMRC bill, player and staff wages and any other pressing bills that need to be paid.
Donations to HUST are slightly different in that one can choose what the donation can go towards.
