Braintree will have to play 21 games in the next 82 days in order to complete the season on the final day. The Iron have played only once since December 28th, with their planned match with Nuneaton this Saturday their first home game of 2014. Chester have signed Hyde midfielder Matty Mainwaring on non-contract terms. The 23 year old had been on loan at Macclesfield since the end of November.

Wrexham missed out on a near £500,000 windfall after a move for former defender Neil Taylor fell through. The Swansea full back was set for a £5million transfer to Fulham, with the Dragons holding a 10% clause on their original £150,000 deal, but the transfer failed to complete in time. Torquay's squad had to be evacuated from their hotel in the early hours ahead of their win over Portsmouth after heavy rain caused part of the roof to collapse.

Shrewsbury caretaker boss Michael Jackson has been told he will be in charge for three more games at least. The rookie coach is considering bringing in former manager Chris Hutchings to assist him. The League One strugglers earned their first point in five games with a 1-1 draw with Brentford at the weekend. Former Bulls loanee Mark Marshall has signed a deal with Coventry until the end of the season. The former Barnet winger has just completed a two year ban after testing positive for a banned substance.

Lincoln have extended the loan of Cambridge winger Mitch Austin for a second month. The Australian has made four appearances for the Imps so far. Gateshead have signed striker Jack Lester on a deal to the end of the season. The 38 year old retired last April after six years at Chesterfield, and has not played since.
