Further Thoughts From Outside The Box

A column written by Bob Pritchard in the Hereford Times about the Edgar Street leases has prompted Nailswortholdbull to respond with some ideas.

Following the revelations in the Hereford Times, about what we can now expect with the Blackfriars Development, isn’t it time we all used our collective brain power, and local knowledge, to come up with some realistic proposals, about who, or what, might be the right occupier for the long term benefit of HUFC?

The suggestion, earlier this week, regarding a gym/fitness centre, has met with mixed responses, but little in the way of alternatives. With the number of hits that Bulls News gets every week, there must be some of you, out there, who have some great ideas, no matter how off the wall, that might sow the seeds of future success for the BF, and our great little club.

I’ll kick in just 2 more, and then sit back and watch the deluge of better ideas flood in……………..

Firstly, there is, so the owners claim, only 1 soft play children’s centre, in Hereford. The idea of mums being able to drop off their kids to a new one that is IMMEDIATELY adjacent to the brand new shopping centre being built, right opposite our ground, whilst they disappear around those shops, is going to be attractive to a lot of parents. Parking? No problem. Catering facilities? Already on the premises. Yes, there is a competitor, but what we will have is location, location, location.

On a more mundane level, (and here, it appears that I’m just a little too late with the suggestion), wouldn’t it have been a great boost for HUFC to have the offices of the Herefordshire Football Association in the home of the only fulltime professional football club in the county?

Perhaps, training rooms to rent for training purposes, for any of the new department stores, supermarkets or restaurants, in the new development?

But, with 5 floors being a part of the proposed plans, we should be expecting, or inviting, enquiries anyway, from commercial organisations of substance, but, in the meantime, anything to add, ladies & gentlemen?
