In an article for the Telegraph today, Hereford MP Jesse Norman compares the riches of the Premier League to the plight of clubs lower down the pyramid.
The full article is on the Telegraph website here (link).
In it, Norman talks about the Premier League giants, and how some of the bigger clubs in Germany are operated. Then he turns to the lower reaches and the troubles at a string of clubs. He ends the piece:
"That just doesn’t make sense. Those at the top of the game need to invest more in the grass roots — the place from which our football culture derives. They need to reach out to their supporters, not just their media partners. There's huge scope for more co-ops and supporters' trusts to be used at every level of the game. Oh yes, and we all need to look more closely at how they do it in Germany."
