HUST Newsletter - January 2014

This from the Trust:

HUST Newsletter - January 2014

Dear Member,

We'd like to update you about the things the Trust has done since the elections formed the first Trust Board two months ago.
We will be handing out flyers at Saturday's game, and we urge all Trust members to come to the match and show your support for the team.

1. The Supporters Trust has become a shareholder in Hereford United.

Thanks to several members donating sums to be used specifically to purchase shares, the Trust purchased their first tranche of shares in the club last week.
We also have a number of shareholders that have offered to transfer their existing shares into the Trust's name. Should you wish to donate money or shares, both will be gratefully accepted as the Trust seeks to build a significant shareholding in the club to enable the supporters to have a say in the future of the club.

2. The Supporters Trust has been fundraising for the Youth Team.

Following suggestions on the Bulls Banter forum, the Trust has raised funds for the Youth Team, with both the London Bulls and HUISA contributing to the pot.

3. The Supporters Trust has relaunched the Supporters Team.

Working group member Chris Oleksy has relaunched the Supporters Team, playing a pair of games against Kidderminster over the holiday period.
Sponsors have helped Chris to supply kits for the team, and they will play fundraising games throughout the season having joined the IFA group of fans teams.
Further games are being arranged, and more details on the team are on the Trust website: http://www.hufctrust.co.uk/supporters-team/

4. The Supporters Trust has met with the Community Trust.

HUST met with Jamie Edwards of the club's Community Trust for him to give a presentation on the Community Trust's work in and around the club.
As a result of this presentation, HUST has already arranged for a computer to be supplied to the Community Trust for their office work.
We will also be exploring ways that the two organisations can work together in the future to meet their common goals in the community.

5. The Supporters Trust has gained the support of other Trusts.

Thanks to the links formed through the Supporters Teams of the two Trusts, Kidderminster Trust KHIST will now be organising a collection in aid of HUST at a forthcoming match.

6. The Supporters Trust is supporting the Starlite Rooms with events.

Trust members are already promoting events at the Starlite Rooms, with a Sex Pistols tribute night - featuring Punk icon Ed Tudor-Pole - and a Comedy Night - featuring Mock The Week star Gary Delaney - coming up on February 28th and March 30th.
For details on the Sex Pistols tribute night, see the event Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/463743807071292/?fref=ts
For details on the Comedy Night, see the event Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1376012895994178/

7. The Supporters Trust has grown to nearly 380 members.

The Trust is one of the fastest growing Supporters Trusts in the country, with the membership number far outstripping estimates before our launch in the Summer.

8. The Supporters Trust has secured Edgar Street as an Asset of Community Value.

The Trust has registered Edgar Street to protect the site for future generations and to ensure the ordinary fan has a say on the site's future.
The Trust has been ready to respond to it's obligations under the ACV, and Trust chairman Chris Williams has met twice with the club board to ensure that any time-sensitive decisions to come are made with the minimum of delay. We appreciate the frustrations of a lack of information from some meetings, some matters have to await confirmation before a statement can be made, rest assured we will communicate news to our members as soon as possible.

9. The Supporters Trust sponsored a match at Edgar Street.

The Trust sponsored the Cambridge home game on December 21st, and in an innovative move put the Man of the Match vote out to the fans via SMS text message and Twitter votes.
Michael Rankine won the poll by a clear margin and was presented with the award by Trust Board members Jack James and Martin Watson.

10. The Supporters Trust is getting towards a full team of ex-Bulls signed up as members.

Ian Rodgerson and former teammate Ben Smith both signed up for the Trust in December, joining Gareth Davies, Stewart Phillips, Ricky George, Matt Clarke, and Rob Elmes in putting their names to the Trust.
We also have two Club Directors signed up, as well as MP Jesse Norman.
