Young Bulls Beaten By Newport County

Hereford United's youth team were back in action this morning at Leominster but couldn't quite match Newport County.

In difficult conditions the youngsters were defeated 3-2.

However there was further bad news for the Bulls when keeper Cameron Clarke had to be taken to hospital after a collision with a Newport player late in the first half. It looked as though he had damaged his ankle. Owen Evans took his place between the sticks.

Newport took the lead when a free kick from the left was headed into the right hand side of the net.

A couple of minutes later, Hereford equalised when a Newport defender handled the ball in the area. Billy Murphy made no mistake with the spot-kick.

But it was Newport who took the lead again just before half-time with a good move from the left.

Then just on the stroke of half-time Hereford were unlucky not to level the game when a shot hit the bar.

Ten minutes into the second half Newport went 3-1 ahead after some poor defending.

Hereford upped the pressure and Cory Williams got one back with a good header.

The slippy pitch and strong winds didn't help the young Bulls this morning. It was difficult to play their usual passing game. Their next match is at Bournemouth next Thursday when pitch conditions will, hopefuly, be much better.

Director Colin Addison watched the game, afterwards he told BN that he hoped to be at Bournemouth next Thursday to support the youngsters.
