Ken Mallender who played for The Bulls
during the early seventies including the famous Newcastle game today celebrates
his 70th birthday.
Mallender started his footballing career at
Sheffield United in 1961 where he remained until a move to Norwich in 1968
where he regularly captained the side.
During the later stages of his time at Sheffield he would have shared
his time on the pitch with Colin Addison and it was John Charles who brought him to
Edgar Street in 1971.
Ken scored the vital equalizer at The
Hawthorns to pave the way for victory over Northampton in the second replay
that was to lead to the epic match against Newcastle.
Following his time with The Bulls,
Mallender spent time playing in The North American Soccer League for Miami Toros
and later returned to his Hereford home to complete his playing days at Telford.
Not a lot got past him. Have a good day Ken.
