Midfield playmaker Smith made 151 first team appearances for the Bulls, scoring 25 goals, in two seperate spells at Edgar Street and continues to play for Thurrock in the Isthmian League.
Now a teacher at Maltings Academy in Essex, he has a degree in business management.
Smith is busily completing his autobiography, which is due to be published next summer, and he hopes to visit Edgar Street for its official launch.
HUST will host a special Sportstalk Evening to include video footage of Smudger in action, and a chance for all Hereford United Supporters to get their copy of the book signed.
