News Round-Up

Aldershot manager Andy Scott has signed a new contract with the club to take him up to the summer of 2016. Assistant Terry Bullivant has also agreed a similar length deal despite the pair having won only nine of 28 games in charge of the Shots. Former Accrington MD Rob Heys has lost his appeal against the 21 month football ban he received for betting on games, with the FA upholding the original ban and fine. Heys says he has been unable to find another job since leaving Stanley.

Grimsby striker Lenell John-Lewis has been told his foot injury is not a broken bone and he is likely to be out for weeks rather than months. The former Bury man missed last Saturday's loss to Salisbury with the problem. The Mariners have loaned striker Dayle Southwell to Harrogate for an initial month. The 19 year old has made three brief sub appearances for the Mariner this season.

Former Bulls striker Tim Sills has left Bashley and signed for Gosport Borough. The Conf South strugglers have put the 34 year old on a two and a half year deal after Southern League Premier side Bashley opted to cut their wage bill after lower than expected income this season. Mansfield say they won't be following up their interest in former Bulls loanee Steven Jennings after his red card in the reserve match on Tuesday.

The local press reports that Southend are under a transfer embargo due to not paying wages to three former players. Michael Spillane, Elliott Benyon, and John Spicer were released in the summer but are all owed three months wages. Spillane told The Echo that he had repeatedly asked the club for payment but was told they didn't have the money and didn't know when they would have it. The Shrimpers have also failed to file accounts on time, and have only just paid Millwall for the loan of former Bull Tamika Mkandawire last season.

Southport have signed veteran striker Nathan Ellington. The 32 year old ended last season at Crewe and had been on trial with the Railwaymen up to this week in a bid to earn a longer deal. He will be in their squad for their televised match tonight with Macclesfield.
