Caught With A Sucker Punch

After this afternoon's defeat by Barnet, Hereford United manager Martin Foyle told BBC Hereford and Worcester that just before half time his side had been 'caught with a sucker punch' by the Bees.

"Obviously we had to stop Barnet," said Foyle.

"We decided to go and press high and close them down.

"I thought we did alright but then, all of a sudden, we get caught with a sucker punch.

"Bushy has got caught fast asleep. Six foot three and the lad is five foot ten, got a cross in.

"People might say it's a good header but it's not good defending, it's poor defending by us.

"And that just gives you a massive knock again.

"So all that hard work and energy, closing them down, putting them under pressure just goes out the window.

"Our hold up play at times was poor, I've got no excuses really because it's not good enough.

"We just didn't want to stick the ball in the box. It looked like we were scared today.

"You have standards but we're dropping short of them."

Foyle is hopeful he will have several players fit again for the FA Cup game at Hornchurch next Saturday.

"Josh O'Keefe, Frankie and Kingsley will be back, it gives me something else to think about because at the moment going with the same boys that three 1-0 defeats.

"I love the FA Cup and, touch wood, I've done very well in the FA Cup.

"Hopefully that might be the springboard we need to give ourselves a little bit of confidence.

"You go there not to lose a game of football because that's what the FA Cup is all about.

"But I'll have to have a good hard look at the team now, what's going to change, what's going to swap.

"It needs it."
