Stockport Board Statement Shows Deep Division With Fans

Stockport's board is to bring in extra security to protect the board members from irate fans.

A terse statement from Hatters chairman Lord Peter Snape says the board members no longer feel safe bringing family members to games, and that they have been the subject of death threats with the club's Conference status in severe doubt.

Darije Kalezic's side has won only one of their last eight games, against lowly Barrow, and lost four home matches on the trot to leave them just three points clear of the bottom four with many of their rivals holding games in hand.

Fans have turned against the board since Jim Gannon's dismissal with some claiming that new boss Kalezic is neither picking the team nor the new signings. Snape says that plans to 'storm' the Directors Box if they lose Saturday's home game with Newport means the club will hire additional security to protect the area.
