Former Bulls defender Gary Bowyer has been put in charge at Blackburn until the end of the season.
Manager Michael Appleton was sacked this morning after just 67 days, winning four of 15 games. Bowyer had a spell as caretaker boss prior to Appleton's appointment, winning three of his four games and drawing the other.
Bowyer, 41, played 14 times for the Bulls in the 1989/90 season with his dad Ian as manager. He refused to sign a deal with the Bulls, citing the treatment he had seen Brian Clough dish out to son Nigel, opting instead to move to Nottm Forest. Injury ruined his playing career and he retired 15 years ago.
