News Round-Up

Torquay have named former Rotherham and Bury boss Alan Knill as their manager to the end of the season. He takes over with Martin Ling ill, with the Gulls having lost all five games since his absence. Hyde have signed Blackpool forward Louis Almond on loan for an initial month. The 21 year old has spent much of the last 12 months on loan at Barrow.

Newport are in negotiations to extend their lease at Rodney Parade in order to qualify for promotion to the Football League. They need a 10 year deal in place by the end of the month to be able to meet the criteria for promotion, and currently have only two years left. If they fail to reach agreement they may return to Spytty Park to qualify.

Luton have placed Alan Neilson in temporary charge of first team affairs. He will be assisted by coach Stuart Cash while they seek an alternative name, with Graham Westley already linked. Lincoln say relegation is 'unthinkable' and that they will take up to 10 days to appoint a new manager. The Imps are just three points clear of the drop zone.

Forest Green boss Dave Hockaday says he is ignoring rumours linking him to Swindon's vacancy. The Robins moved top of League One last night, with Paolo Di Canio's management team insisting they will leave with him. Bookies have Di Canio as the favourite to return, while former Luton boss Paul Buckle has also shot up the betting since his departure - although he is expected to be joining fiancee Rebecca Lowe, of ESPN, is the US when she moves to her new job there.
