Harry Topper came home first in the Bathwick Tyres Taunton Graduation Chase earlier this afternoon at Exeter. Coming after the Bulls won 2-0 at Braintree it's been a good weekend for Hereford United chairman David Keyte.

And afterwards trainer Kim Bailey suggested the six year-old might take part in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham next month. Paddy Power have made him their 6/1 favourite should he take part.

"Jason Maguire rode him when he won here earlier in the season and has come back and said the horse is bigger, better and stronger so we are definitely going the right way," said Bailey.

"He's entered in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham next month, but I would have to say we are totally undecided about whether he'll run there as it will be a case of how he comes out of this and whether the ground dries quickly."

Harry Topper wasn't given much hope originally by Bailey

“I told his owner-breeder David Keyte he was no good before his first bumper and that I’d drop him off on the way home – but he won it comfortably.”
