The Weather Has Beaten Us said Keyte

Hereford United chairman David Keyte hadn't arrived at the Ebbsfleet ground when the game was called off around 11am. On his way back at just 20 miles per hour on the M25 he spoke to BBC Hereford and Worcester.

"We had stopped about 30 minutes away,"said Keyte.

"Unfortunately the weather has beaten us but at least the lads on four bookings will get to the Kidderminster match.

"I've got to say we're starting to fear a little bit that the Boxing Day match might already be at risk.

"I understand it's been pouring with rain back in Hereford."

The interview then turned to financial matters.

"We've still got a lot to do because the real icing on the cake would have been to have got through to the televised match against Everton.

"I wouldn't say we are back to square one but we've got to be careful in the second half.

"The home matches financially over Christmas are important to us so we do need those on.

"We've got a run over January and February where we catch up on our home matches.

"The cup run has given us a big boost and the fundraising as well."
