The Football League have told Portsmouth's Supporters Trust that the club can expect a points deduction when the club emerges from Administration.
Once the PST resolves the court case over the ownership of Fratton Park, with the case being started in the next week, the League would want to impose conditions on the club's continued membership of the competition. These would include restrictions on budgets and borrowings, plus the almost-obligatory 10 point deduction on completion of the deal.
As it stands, Pompey are only a point clear of the League One dropzone and would drop to 23rd in the table, three wins from safety, with the deduction.
Meanwhile, Southend's players are reported to have not been paid. They were due wages for November at the end of the month but, according to the local press, still have not been paid.
The Shrimpers were also due to face court this morning over a winding up petition, but settled the bill with the taxman prior to the hearing.
