A meeting between Herefordshire Council and the Arena Racing Company took place today and the main outcome is that the two parties have agreed to continue to discuss proposals to keep Hereford Racecourse in operation.
Council leader John Jarvis has offered Arena a new 125 year lease and the prospect of building a hotel on the site.
"I am pleased that our discussions will be continuing and the council remains comitted to the continuation of racing at Hereford," said Jarvis.
"I believe that all parties share in this objective."
Tony Kelly from Arena also commented after the meeting.
