Wrexham Targeting McPhee

Wrexham have confirmed an interest in Chris McPhee with their summer transfer funding boosted by two transfer fees received.

Boss Andy Morrell has admitted that McPhee and Altrincham striker Damian Reeves are top of his hit list to replace strikers Mathias Pogba and Jake Speight, with the transfer fees received from the duo meaning the Dragons can outbid their rivals.

Morrell told the Daily Post: “We’re talking to a few and they (McPhee and Reeves) are names that have been put to us. It’s a matter of picking them out and seeing where we really need to strengthen. Obviously we need to replace Pogba, and probably get one other in goal, in defence and in midfield.”

Morrell has rejected message board speculation linking the Dragons with a move for veteran Welsh midfielder Jason Koumas, saying the 32 year old has been out of the game for a year.
