Preview: Bulls vs Yeovil

The Bulls open their pre-season campaign with a home match with Yeovil Town.

The two sides have been regular rivals over the last 25 years, with the Bulls managing just four wins in the 23 competitive matches. The last meeting was in last season's FA Cup, when the Glovers ran out 3-0 winners at Edgar Street. Both sides will be much changed from that match just eight months ago, with half the Bulls squad from that day long gone.

The Bulls intend to limit their players to around 45 minutes each during this pre-season opener. One player unlikely to take part is Michael Townsend who has missed training with a calf problem. Trialist full back Eddie Odhiambo is expected to feature and has been impressing the management, while there are expected to be a number of as-yet unidentified trialists in the forward positions. Five trialists, including youth teamer Josh Hunt, have been identified but there were reported to have been at least nine in training.

Yeovil have a number of familiar faces in the squad for the trip north. While Andy Williams has departed during the summer, namesake Gavin signed a one year deal early in the close season to extend his third spell with the club, and he is joined at Huish Park by former Bulls loanee Byron Webster. The towering centre back followed manager Gary Johnson from Northampton last month along with Lewis Young. The pacy winger, also a one time Edgar Street loanee, is now with his fourth permanent League side in successive seasons.

Hereford United vs Yeovil Town, Edgar Street, Saturday 14th July, 3.00pm.
