I'm not a Quitter says Keyte

Hereford United chairman David Keyte has said that he will not quit as chairman of the club despite the poor performance on the pitch this season which will mean that the Bulls play in the Conference next season.

He has also said that he expects a squad of around 17/18 players next season at Edgar Street as opposed to the 29 or so this season.

"I'm not a quitter and I don't plan to," Keyte told BBC Hereford and Worcester this morning.

"I think we saw that it was probably a minimum of five year job to try and turn the club.

"We've had some criticism for putting time and effort into off-field improvements which I think we are on-track with.

"Unfortunately the return on the pitch has been negligable in the last two years for a fair amount of investment. So we take our medicine at the moment.

"We're moving quickly (to cut our costs).

"The starting point being some £400K less funding in the Conference which drives the thinking.

"It's going to be a smaller squad of players probably some younger cheaper players hungry for personnel success and hopefully success for the club.

"We're certainly not going to have a squad of 29 players and 5 coaching staff.

"I would imagine we are looking at a squad of 17/18 players on an average wage that is less than where we have been in the last two seasons.

"And we need to get back to a manager and a coach and his physio."
