Macclesfield are reported to be lining up Gary Lowe as their next manager after he sensationally quit Conference newcomers Hyde.
The former Man City player, who had a brief spell at Edgar Street in 1980, and his assistant Martyn Booty, quit Conf North champions Hyde over the weekend, citing a dispute with the chairman over budgets for the coming season. The 53 year old claimed he was only being allowed to sign players on one year deals, and that the budget "didn't give us any sort of fighting chance".
In a single season at the helm Lowe turned Hyde from a side that escaped relegation on the final day to champions with one game to spare, fired on by the goals of former Macclesfield striker Scott Spencer.
