News Round-Up

The Football League has announced an extension to the sponsorship agreement for the Johnstones Paint Trophy until the summer of 2015. Crewe boss Steve Davis has lodged an official complaint over referee Steve Tanner, claiming the official failed to protect his players in their draw with Northampton at the weekend. Davis claims three 'cynical' tackles from different players on starlet Nick Powell were all ignored.

The Conference have confirmed they have placed a transfer embargo on Darlington over their non-payment of some player wages. The embargo has been in place for ten days after players contacted the organisation over the situation. The taxman has brought a second winding up order against Neath over unpaid taxes. They had previously brought proceedings in the summer that were eventually settled.

Yeovil crashed out of the FA Cup last night, losing 2-0 to Fleetwood Town. Dagenham won at Walsall on penalties, in front of just 1,806 spectators, leaving the Saddlers fans calling for ex-Bull Dean Smith's head. Crawley boss Steve Evans says he has had talks with Crystal Palace striker Calvin Andrew but will not sign him as he would not get into their team.

Burton are trialling Yeovil midfielder Flavien Belson. The Frenchman was told his short term deal would not be renewed in January after being sent off in his only appearance for the club. Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson has defended striker Vinny Mukendi after having verbals with fans who were abusing the forward during Saturday's game with Gillingham.

Southend boss Paul Sturrock says he is considering the future of volatile utilty man Bilel Moshni. The Frenchman was sent off in last night's FA Cup loss to Oldham, his second red of the season, and has also picked up nine yellow cards so far as well as being involved in an off-field bust-up in August. Chesterfield have issued a statement backing under-fire manager John Sheridan. The rock-bottom League One side say Sheridan will remain in charge and will have money to spend in the January window.
