Northampton have named Aidy Boothroyd as their new manager on a 12 month rolling contract.
The former Watford and Coventry boss has been out of work since leaving the Ricoh Arena in March. The 40 year old is on his fourth managerial appointment after starting out taking Watford into, and back out of, the Premier League.
He then progressed to Colchester, missing out on the play-offs in his only season in charge, before a disasterous stint with Coventry. His first task as Cobblers boss is to reverse their dramatic slide down the League Two table, where they have won only one point from the last 24.
Boothroyd will be assisted by former Mansfield and Swindon manager Andy King.
