Torquay manager Martin Ling blasted his reserve side after they were demolished by Cheltenham's second string 9-1 on Tuesday afternoon. The Gulls side included four players from Saturday's matchday squad that lost at Bradford, while the Robins fielded a side with little first team experience. It was the second heavy defeat in a row for the Gulls, after losing 8-2 to Crawley in their previous game.

Northampton striker Adebayo Akinfenwa will miss a couple of weeks after fracturing his jaw. The Cobblers initially feared he would miss as many as six weeks to heal the injury. Port Vale have former Bolton defender Andy Todd training with them. The 37 year old left Oldham in the summer but is not likely to be offered a deal with the Valiants and is only training with them to aid his fitness.

Dagenham striker Sam Williams is now being reported to be out for the season after knee surgery, when earlier reports suggested he would be out for a couple of months. It was initially diagnosed as ligament damage but cartilage damage was also found. Aldershot have been granted an extended capacity for their Carling Cup game with Man Utd after officials granted a temporary reduction in the segregation zone splitting home and away fans. The gap was widened in the summer after problems last season.
