Central defender Michael Townsend is available to play for Hereford United in tomorrow's League Two match against Morecambe. He has missed the first two games of the season through suspension.
However manager Jamie Pitman will have to decide whether to start Townsend or have him on the bench. It will be a difficult choice as the pairing of Stefan Stam and Ryan Green helped the Bulls keep a clean sheet against Brentford in the Carling Cup on Tuesday evening.
Should Townsend start then Ryan Green would be expected to play at right back instead of Rob Purdie who has performed well in that position. Pitman then would need to decide whether to start Purdie elsewhere in the side which would mean dropping someone else to the bench possibly James McQuilken.
Another dilemma for the Hereford United manager will be whether to continue with Delroy Facey up front. Yohan Arquin came off the bench both at Southend and against Brentford. In both games the introduction of the French striker gave the Bulls a lift. However Arquin may not be fit enough for 90 minutes so Pitman could decide to stick with Facey.
Pitman is hopeful that the win against Brentford, whilst not totally deserved, and the forthcoming trip to Aston Villa will have lifted the spirits of the players.
"It’s a home game and it’s going to be a tough task," Pitman told the Worcester News.
"But we have got a bit of confidence with one win under our belts. We need that in the league.
"We have got to make sure we are better at home this season and convert some of the draws into wins."
Meanwhile whilst mid-fielder Nicky Featherstone has returned to full training, Saturday is expected to be too soon for him to feature.
