Edgar the Bull came home in eighth position in the annual football mascot race held at Uttoxeter earlier this week.
This year was the inaugural Sunflower Sprint mascot race in aid of the Official Charity Partner of The Football League Help the Hospices and it was Notts County who were celebrating as Mr Magpie crossed the finish line first.
He was closely followed, at Uttoxeter Racecourse, by Billy Brewer, the Burton Albion mascot who finished in second place, cheered on by the whole of the Brewers squad.
The side were all at the racecourse to take part in proceedings and even sponsored a race in aid of their local hospice - St Giles'.
Nottingham Forest's mascot, Robin Hood finished third while last year's winner Rammie had to make do with sixth.
The event was the first of a year of fundraising initiatives for Help the Hospices, culminating in a dedicated week of action from 7 to 13 March 2011 where all 72 League clubs will stage a game in support of the charity.
After the race Edgar the Bull, Ellis Davey, told the press "It was a great experience."
