News Round-Up

Plymouth's Administrator has named Devon-based hotelier James Brent as the preferred bidder for the club. His company Akkeron has bought out a series of failing hotel chains over the last two years, however they are not prepared to meet the current obligations of the club and a deal will have to be negotiated with the mortgage holders. The club's players have agreed a deferrment of wages for April.

Cheltenham have named former manager John Murphy as a new director. He will have specific responsibility for the club's Centre of Excellence. Lincoln chairman Bob Dorrian has hinted his club will only offer 12 month deals this summer after the club had to pay off 13 players over the last 18 months following changes of manager. The Imps have seven players with contracts for next season.

Notts County are the latest side to raffle off their shirt sponsorship for next season. They will celebrate their 150th anniversary next term, and will offer 150 spots in the raffle for £500 each. Oldham suggest the new TV deal announced yesterday will cost them £170,000 a season from their current £656,000 share. If that is the case then League Two sides would lose £110,000 from their 2012/3 budget.
