Preview: Bulls vs Bury

The Bulls entertain Bury on Saturday in another Kids for a Quid game at Edgar Street.

The two sides met at Gigg Lane in September, with the Bulls earning what was then a rare away point thanks to a debut penalty from Guillem Bauza. That goal almost gave the Bulls all three points, but Kenny Lunt's dismissal for two yellows strained the Bulls to the limits and they eventually conceded in the last minute to drop two vital points. The previous season the Shakers did the double, winning 3-1 at Edgar Street. Since the Bulls returned to the League Bury's five goals have come from only two players - Ryan Lowe and Mike Jones.

The Bulls might have to start playing in orange to improve their home form. Despite being virtually unbeatable on the road in recent weeks they have gained just three points from four home games. The defence has been quietly racking up the clean sheets, with three in the last four matches, while Stuart Fleetwood and Waide Fairhurst have been earning the headlines for their work at the other end of the pitch.

Bury travel to Edgar Street in the last of the automatic promotion spots after winning 3-0 at Shrewsbury on Tuesday night. They average two goals a game on the road, more than their home record, but they also managed to lose 2-1 to Stockport in what is the Hatters' only win in 13 games. Top scorer Ryan Lowe has 22 goals and now holds a club record after scoring in each of the last eight matches. Fellow Bulls tormentor Mike Jones is second top scorer on a less impressive seven.
