Former Hereford United striker Gary Hooper is being tracked by Fabio Capello, the England manager, according to this morning's Times.
23 year old Hooper has scored 13 goals for Celtic in the SPL this season to date. He cost £2.4M from Scunthorpe last summer. They signed him from Southend after former Hereford United manager Graham Turner dropped out of the bidding.
If called up 'it would be a remarkable achievement for a player that began his career at non-league Grays Athletic and has meandered around such footballing backwaters such as Southend, Leyton Orient and Hereford United' says Sportingo.
Update 1pm: The Daily Mail is carrying the same story with the headline - Rejected by Spurs, loaned out to Hereford, offloaded to Scunthorpe...but now England beckons Celtic's Gary Hooper.
