Edgar's New Friend

Hereford United's mascot, Edgar, has a new friend.

They were helping to support the Marie-Curie appeal at Edgar Street this afternoon.

At half time both played as goalkeepers in a Junior Bulls match.

And afterwards Edgar looks as though he's getting a telling off.

The Marie Curie appeal this afternoon at Edgar Street was part of a Football Week for the charity. All 72 Football League clubs will be working together to help raise money and awareness of Marie Curie and their community nurses.

Marie Curie was selected in September 2009 by The Football League Board to be the official charity partner for the 2010-11 campaign. The decision was made following a vote by over 25,000 fans on the official Football League website which saw Help for Heroes and Marie Curie Cancer Care selected as the two preferred charities from a shortlisted five.

Founded in 1948, Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of the UK's largest charities. Employing more than 2,700 nurses, doctors and other healthcare professionals, it expects to provide care to more than 31,000 terminally ill patients in the community and in its hospices this year. The charity is best known for its network of Marie Curie Nurses working in the community to provide end-of-life care, totally free of charge, for patients and their families in their own homes.
