Rob Purdie, who signed a deal with the Bulls yesterday, has said that he owes his career to former Hereford United manager Graham Turner.
"I had nowhere to go when I was not wanted at Leicester City and Graham gave me the chance at Hereford," Purdie told the Hereford Times.
"I pretty much owe my career to Graham - he was a big influence on me.
"I wanted to have a chat with Graham after the Shrewsbury match but I didn’t get the chance.
"It was difficult for Graham that night - he had the Shrewsbury fans calling for him to wave at them and, of course, he did such a good job at Hereford over many years.
"Graham is at Shrewsbury now but there’s no way he would want Hereford to be towards the bottom of the league.
"He did some great work at the club for 10 to 15 years and he would want Hereford to stay up."
Purdie also revealed that he had spoken to John Trewick about a move to Hereford but when the chance came to play in League One with Oldham he took it.
